Drafting, Designing and CommunicatingThroughout my professional career in nonprofit public relations, I found that effective communication goals were attained when drafting (the written word) and designing (printed and digital materials) worked hand-in-hand.
For the past 19 years, I have applied this knowledge to public relations, advertising, and marketing strategies in the following industries: healthcare, community outreach, and higher education. In 2011, I transitioned my career toward teaching so that I could share these essential graphic communication skills with the next generation of PR practitioners. I currently teach graphic communication courses to public relations students in the School of Communication & Media at Kennesaw State University. My lectures include Magazine Media (PR 4605), Digital Publication Design (PR 4405), Brand Identity Design (PR 4415), and Visual Communication (COM 2033). I also offer workshops that teach students how digital literacy skills can leverage their careers. |
